Creating a Mexico Nutrition Facts Label

Creating a Mexico Nutrition Facts Label

Mexico Nutrition Facts LabelWith the increasing size of the global marketplace, the food manufacturing industry can take advantage of new and exciting opportunities. But, this is not without inherent problems, namely, complying with other governments' labeling regulations.

This is one of the many areas where Genesis R&D shines.

Last time, we looked at how easy it is to create a Health Canada compliant nutrition facts label. Today, we're going to go over creating a label that's compliant with labeling laws in Mexico.

Note: You must have access to the Mexico Label module for Genesis R&D.

Create a new Recipe by clicking the Recipe icon and selecting New.

  1. Name your Recipe and enter in the number of servings the Recipe will make. This is important because the nutrition label displays information PER SERVING. Alternatively, you can enter a per serving weight.
  2. Carefully search for and enter all the ingredients in your Recipe. You will do this by typing in ingredient search terms (full or partial words) and selecting matches from the list returned.

  3. If your ingredient is not available in the list of search results, you will have to create your ingredient. This is covered in a tutorial here.
  4. Save often.
  5. Once you have created and saved your Recipe, click Label Display in the list of Reports. If you only have the Mexico Label module for your Genesis program, the resulting label will be a NOM-rules-compliant Nutrition Facts panel, which looks like this:

  6. If not, you will see a U.S. label, which looks like this:

and there are a few more steps.
  7. Right-click on the label and select Settings.
  8. Select General.
  9. From the available options in the Regulations, select Mexico.
