Labeling and Regulatory Specialist

ESHA Research is expanding its consultant service offerings. This position collaborates with the Consulting Services Team in supporting regulatory compliance, customer training, food and supplement labeling, restaurant menu labeling, and marketing support.  This position reports to the Consulting Services Director and has the option of working in the Chicago, IL area.


  • Serves as a company resource for government regulations regarding food and supplement labeling
  • Conducts regulatory compliance and product training at customer locations, online, and internally
  • Provides additional consulting, training, and onsite services as needed
  • Works with customers to produce food labels; including nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, and allergen statements that comply with FDA and USDA as well as international (e.g. CFIA) regulations
  • Works with customers to develop or analyze their products, and take their products to market
  • Ensures training deadlines are met and produces on-time project deliverables
  • Collaborates with consulting team to improves and design training resources and related materials
  • Works with internal marketing department to create content
  • Works with internal software development department on new ideas and customer requests
  • Presents a professional appearance and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills

 Education and Experience

  • BA / BS in Food Science, Nutrition or related field
  • Five years of experience in related field
  • Extensive, working knowledge of FDA and USDA food labeling regulations, with minimum of three years of experience in creating food labels for packaged foods
  • Must have customer service experience
  • Want to stand out?

    • Be a Registered Dietitian
    • Be multilingual

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Be able to travel 20% to 30% of the time
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including descriptive writing as well as appropriate phone and email etiquette
  • Clear sense of integrity, work ethic and a sincere interest in building strong relationships based upon competency and trust
  • Strong organizational skills: the ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities and follow through on project implementation
