The function keys are tied to the ESHA Quick Search files built on startup. Sometimes these files get damaged, or do not build correctly. If/when this happens, worse case scenario is (1) function keys won't search, and (2) some or all items will not appear in the list of matches. The good news is this is very easily fixed! Close down The Food Processor (or Genesis) and any other program(s) you may have running. We will need to search the c:\ drive (in all cases--even network installations) for some files. Specifically *.eqs files. This can be done with Start|Find|Files or Folders in Win95/98/NT4.0+ or in File Manager (using File Search) in Win3.x/NT3.5+. Again, make sure that the search is for the entire c:\ drive. After searching, you should find 4-5 files. Delete, rename or move these files to another location. The bottom line is to get these files out of the c:\windows or c:\winnt directory. Then, simply close any open window(s) and restart The Food Processor (or Genesis). You should now have use of the function keys.
