  1. Creating a new database starts with choosing where the database will reside.  As a recommendation, the new database should be created in the Data folder. This will make life much easier when the next update comes out!
  2. From within the program, click on Databases, then on Select Active Databases. This will open a dialog box with 3 tabs along the top: Food Item, Foodlist, and Profile. Select the type of database you wish to create.
  3. Along the top you will see buttons designating which drive letter. Pick the drive in which you want to create the database.
  4. Along the left side, choose the directory where the database is to be located. With that directory highlighted, click the New button to the right, and you will be presented with a New [type] Database dialog box.  Enter in the name of your new database and click OK.
  5. NOTE: In naming your new database, you only get the use of 6 characters or less.
  6. After clicking OK to the "[database name] was successfully created" message, you will see it listed under Database Files: at the top; as well as under Active Database files: at the bottom with the complete path.
  7. Under the Active Database files, highlight the newly created database and click Set Save File at the right.  This will mark the database with an asterisk(*) denoting it as the default save to database.
  8. Click the Save button at the far right.  This saves the database as a default active database.
  9. Click OK as necessary to confirm / leave the dialog.
