- Close down the program. Open Windows Explorer from Start|Programs.
- Insert a blank disk in the drive. Inside of Explorer, double click on the folder that contains the program ("fpwin" or "genwin"). This should spring out a subfolder called data. Double click on "data". In the right hand window you should see a large list of files. Once there, press F3 to bring up the search form.
- In the Named field (or 'Search for files or folders Named'), type the name of the database you are trying to copy plus the following so it looks like this: [name]*.*
For example type "fdlist*.*" (without the quotation ["] marks). Once you have this, click on Find Now (or Search Now).
- This should bring up several files (anywhere from 6 to 30). Highlight all of the files. You can do this by highlighting any one of the files (if not already highlighted) and pressing Control A (ctrl+A).
- Once you have the files highlighted, on the menu, click Edit|Copy.
- At the top of Explorer, in the Address area, type "a:\" (again, without the quotes), and press ENTER. This switches your view to the floppy disk.
- On the menu, click Edit|Paste. You should see the 'Copying' box from Windows, although it may be quick. Follow any prompts to complete the copy process.
- Repeat this process for any database you would like to backup. Step 3 above will back up your default foodlist/recipe database. You may also want to backup the user*.* (food item and/or profile) database.

- Once again, get into Windows Explorer. Click on the folder c:\ in the left window so that it is highlighted. Click on Tools at the top, then Find, then Files or Folders. In the "Named:" field, type *.eqs and click OK. Again, it will find any number of files. Once they are found press Ctrl+A on your keyboard to highlight them all then delete them. These are files that will automatically be rebuilt later. When done, close the Find box.
- Ok, now were ready to copy over the files from the disk. Insert the disk, and at the top of Explorer, click on the 3 1/2" floppy (A:) folder. After a moment, the files you copied will appear at the right. Click on the top one, highlighting it, and then press ctrl+A to highlight them all. Once highlighted, click Edit and then Copy. Now on the left side get the data folder under fpwin or genwin open. Once it?s open on the left, click on it ONCE to highlight it. Now click on Edit above and then on Paste. It may ask you to replace or overwrite an existing file. If it does ask this question, answer YES TO ALL. If it doesn't ever ask, that is fine also.
- Once it's done, that should be it! Make sure that you have that database active inside the program and from there you'll be able to use the info at will.
