Note: This is for the standard version of Genesis R&D (non SQL). If you wish to export the label to Word using the SQL version of Genesis R&D, refer to this document.
- From within Genesis, view the label.
- With the label on screen, click on the menu choice for Label, then Export Label. This will bring up a small dialog box entitled Export Label.
- Choose the horizontal and vertical DPI (Dots Per Inch) in their respective boxes. The higher the DPI value, the better the resolution, but also the bigger the image is when imported. Generally, 300x300 is recommended. When set, click Save As.
- In the Save As dialog box that appears, type the name that you want your file to have in the File name: box. You can omit the extension; Genesis will automatically enter the extension of .bmp to save this file as a bitmap. Make a note of where you are saving this exported file. You’ll find that information in the Save in: box at the top. The default location is Genwin. When finished, click Save.
- Click OK to the message saying it was successfully saved, then click Close to the Export Label dialog.
- Minimize Genesis. (Click the dash in the upper right corner.)
- Now, switch to, or open, Microsoft Word.
- With a blank document, click on Insert, then Picture, then From File. Find the line Look in: with the box along the top. At the right of that box, you’ll find a down arrow in gray. Click on it and locate your Genwin folder. This may take some searching.
- Listed, you should see your bitmap file with the title as you saved it. Click on it to highlight it, then click Insert at the top right of the dialog box. You should now see a large Nutrition Facts panel on screen with the formatting still entirely intact.
- Click once on the label anywhere to change focus to the label. You will see the label edges change slightly and boxes put into the corners.
- By clicking on these boxes, you can scale the label to reflect the size that you need. Alternatively, with the focus on the label, you can click on Format, then Picture and make changes in here as necessary.
- Be sure to save your new document in an appropriate location when done.
